Welcome to my Weebly where I have produced a variety of Genres that explore the question: How does poverty shape the way we see the world? I apply this question to Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. Alexie's text is the perfect novel for young readers of all backgrounds. It is full of talking point, valuable lessons, and other perspectives that have the real ability to change peoples lives. Take some time to explore the page and let me know if you have any suggestions are ideas yourself! I would love to start a type of collaborative experience with other people!

In this Weebly, You will find many forms of assessments that you can use in your classes as ways to get students to interact with the material beyond tests. We call these assessments genres. Each genre is designed to accommodate students varying strengths. My Weebly explores 8 different genres. Hopefully you and your students will find an assessment variety that will not only serve to accentuates students mastery of the material, but will also act as a vehicle for your students to take ownership in their learning and produce a product they can take pride in. Each genre explores the essential question, "How does poverty shape the way we see the world?" As you explore this website, you will find genre's that ask students to explore emotion in tactile and creative ways, an essay that synthesizes information from other books, poems, and current events, as well as pieces that explore the interactions between characters. You will also find a graphic that displays factual information about Native American poverty, two pieces that look at the other side, and a poster about SNAP and WIC. Finally, I have also posted a lesson plan that is useful for the end of a unit.
