The whole book gives us the perspective of Junior. We clearly see how Poverty shapes the way he interacts with the world, What we don't get is any perspective of the white students. Because one's wealth dramatically affects the way an individual sees the world, I thought it would be good to imagine the moment that Roger knew Junior was poor and how that made him reflect on his own situation. Its a first person narrative that is told in a similar fashion to a diary entry to mimic the way Junior tells his story. The scene the piece focuses on is the dance scene and the pancake diner that follows.
